k1x first teamed up with sierra leone’s national basketball squad a little over 3 years ago. not because they had the best chances of scoring a medal at the olympics games. not because they have the next lebron on their roster. but because team sierra leone tells the most intrigueing story in international basketball. these guys play ball in the poorest country in the world and face hardships on a daily basis, that seem absurd to modern day athletes: salary, road-trips and even electricity for night-games pose a constant struggle. team sierra leone personifies k1x’s philospohy “play hard, don’t embarrass our products” to the core.

the players and rich culture of siearra leone, have been a major inspiration to k1x ever since. we give a percentage of the profits back to the team, but k1x’s involvement should not be considered charity. think of it more along the lines of appreciation for a partnership, that also featured team sierra leone in k1x’s international ad campaign.

we are happy to assess mounting media interest in sierra leone, most notably kanye wests’ “diamonds from sierra leone” and hollywood movies like “blood diamonds” and “lord of war”. the upcoming k1x spring/summer collection “world tour” (march 2007), also features a large number of styles, that were created around the sierra leone theme. after several weeks of photoagraphy, we came back with some stunning images of the nation’s capital freetown and its ballplayers.

what is a nbdl all-star game without corey “homicide” williams? kinda like a playboy party without the bunnies, right?!
technically, our boy is not eligible to rock the d-league’s mid-season ball (feb. 19th, las vegas), because he recently returned to the sioux falls skyforce (after having spent the first part of the season playing for cholet basket in france), and doesn’t have enough games under his belt yet. c’mon man!? homicide was just voted one of the 5 most likely players to be called up to the nba by sports illustrated; and isn’t that what the league is all about…creating a stage for the talent that has a shot at the big leagues?
we say: let’s see if this democracy thing really works! please request homicide’s all-star participation by dropping a short mail now: homicidevegasstar08@yahoo.com
all incoming mails will be simultaneously forwarded to the nbdl.

damn. we’ve been getting tons feedback on the new “k1x sprizzle collection”, available exclusively at foot locker europe. seems the stuff is flying out of shelves, we’re talking l.a. riots styles. you may wanna hurry.
below is an ad we are running in germany, that pictures berlin based rap duo “the spezializtz”, holding it down for k1x, like only they can. dean dawson and harris have been shaping hip hop since day 1 and are k1x cosby, for real. g.b.z. für immer.
since we can’t say enough good things about the spezializtz, we’ll just go ahead and let them do the talking. check out their various hip hop projects right here…

germany’s reigning rap champ sido is back with his highly anticipated second album “ich”. the man with the mask has a furious repuation for catching his audience off-guard, and proves it once again with his second single release “ein teil von mir” ( a part of me). launched by notorious independent label aggro berlin (www.aggroberlin.de), the song deals with sido’s new-found relationsip to his son. not an average subject for a different kind of rapper.

Raised in the Bronx, N.Y., Corey “Homicide” Williams’ journey began at basketball powerhouse Rice High School (NY) before he was named a junior college All-American at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas. After his successful JUCO stint where he averaged over 20 points per game, Williams transferred to Alabama State to ready himself for a run at the NBA. But, unfortunately, he found himself coming off the bench during his senior season for the underachieving Alabama State Hornets and knew that he’d have to take the road less-traveled if he wanted to someday play in the NBA…

“artest punches bossy photographer with right hand, chokes nosy journalist with left, kicks helpless, homelesss kitten and threatens the president’s life all at the same time!” not really, but this trace magazine feature by steve mascatello is still a great, compelling read. just because it goes alot deeper than most stories about ron artest. “keeping it real”is probably the best description for this piece.

the most dangerous player in the ebc, recently hooked up with the nbdl’s sioux falls skyforce, after having spent the first part of the season with cholet basket, in the top french division. we caught up with corey willimas and had 187 drop the 411.

1. yo homicide, you spent the first part of the season playing for traditional french league powerhouse cholet basket, what was best about coming home for x-mas.

the best thing about coming home for x mas was seeing my faminly, i missed them a lot.

2. was the french game, league & vibe what you had hoped for?

the french league is definately a good league, but my situation wasn’t what I thought it would be. in the past, anywhere I played in my career I played at least 30 minutes a game, and i would always have a chance to produce and play my game. I would always have an effect on the game, I would at least have my team in a position to either win or lose the game, and in cholet that wasn’t the situation. though I really liked coach erman kunter a lot, he knows basketball. he wanted me to come back, but ultimately it wasnt the right situation I was looking for and still, i played 8 games and we won 6 of 8 games.

4. you just signed with the nbdl’s sioux falls skyforce. how did that happen and what can you say about the team and situation after the first couple days?

THIS WAS THE TEAM I PLAYED FOR IN THE CBA LAST YEAR, I KNOW THE SYSTEM, I KNOW THE WAY THEY WANNA PLAY, I KNOW I WILL AT LEAST PLAY 30 MINUTES A GAME IN WHICH I WILL HAVE A GREAT CHANCE TO PRODUCE ON THE COURT, AND BY DOING SO I GIVE MYSELF A CHANCE TO FOLLOW MY DREAMS AND MAKE THE NBA. I WENT THROUGH THE CBA LAST YEAR AND DID WELL, AND IM GOING TO DO IT ONE MORE TIME IN THE NBDL AND WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. the first couple of days have going down well, im just getting adjusted to my teammtes, im happy here and just ready to do what i do baby.

5. what are the realistic chances of going from nbdl to nba? is that what you are gunning for, or rather a european contract?

my chances are real and im definately gunning for the NBA, but at the end of the day, i just want to have a successful season in the nbdl, i did it last year in the CBA if I do it this year in their minor league, the can’t deny me. if the NBA dosen’t happen at least I gave it my all and I will definately play in Europe next year.

6. what are your personal on-court goals for this season?

BE THE BEST POINT GUARD IN THE NBDL THIS YEAR
WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS SEASON
LEAD THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS
THIS SUMMER KILL EVERYONE IN THE STREETS REPPIN K1X!!!!

7. I know you must be dying to get out and face the competition in ny this summer…

this is what i love to do , i talk about streetball more than i talk about the league that im in.
this summer there’s going to be a lot of love for homicide, but there’s going be alot of hate as well and im looing forward to be defending my crown. the funny thing about it all is that I was always hunter and now im the hunted so we will see at the end of 2007 who will wear the streetball crown of ny…..BX ALL DAY, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, 187

look out for homicide preaching the streetball gospel, on k1x.com very soon….

after scoring 0 points in a measly 12 minute outing vs. the golden state warriors on december 30th, ron artest came back stronger than ever to start the year 2007, with a career-high 39 point performance vs. the knicks on jan 2nd. talk about a rebound! was it the hometown opponent that juiced him up? all that trade talk? the critics? whatever it was, it worked. his statline of 39, 8, 2 and 5 only tells half the story. ron ron made 15 of his first 19 shots against his hometown team, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter to help sacramento hang on for its fourth victory in five games.
knicks coach isiah thomas: “he was awesome. we didn’t have an answer for him,” knicks coach isiah thomas said. “that’s the type of player he is. he has the ability to win the game by himself. he knows when to score and how to score. he’s got the complete package.” and kings coach musselmann added: “ron is a smart player, and he figured out that he could beat those guys off the dribble, and then he just got in the zone.”
