…Williams has the street experience to back up the hype. Among the lore: He scored 26 points against Ron Artest, then the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year, during a Rucker game in August 2004. “It was a fork in the road, a defining moment,” Williams said. “Hardest 20-plus points I ever scored. It let me know that no one in the city can guard me.”
Williams further solidified his reputation in 2005 by winning Last Man Standing, a one-on-one tournament sponsored by Madison Square Garden to determine the best player in the tri-state area. It’s a title he will defend this year, and it’s part of Homicide’s M.O. - wherever there’s a chance to play or be seen, show up and let people know “I play serious basketball … that I’m the best guard out there.”
